ParkRadar Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
ParkRadar ("we") helps drivers find free on-street parking by sharing, anonymously, when parking spots are taken and freed. This policy explains which personal data we process, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Controller
Dimitris Katramados, the individual who publishes ParkRadar, Thessaloniki, Greece. Email: support@parkradar.gr.
2. What we collect and why
| Data | When | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR art. 6) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email address, or the identifier Apple / Google give us when you sign in with them | Sign-in | Your account | Contract (b) |
| Your cars (make, model, year, dimensions) | When you add a car | Showing only spots your car fits | Contract (b) |
| Precise location when you tap Parked / Unparked / Leaving soon, or confirm a smart prompt | Those actions | Recording your parking session and publishing the freed spot | Contract (b) |
| Precise location while the radar is open | Radar use | Finding spots near you. Searches are not stored. | Contract (b) |
| The map area you look at, zoomed in, and the area where you park (as areas of about 1 km, never a point) | Moving the map, parking | Downloading the streets there, to draw possible spots and the direction of your parked car. Not stored. | Contract (b) |
| Your position and the spot, when you tap Go (and while you drive there, if you leave the way) | Driving to a spot | Drawing the way there on the map. Sent to our own routing server; not stored or logged. | Contract (b) |
| Background location (only if you enable Smart prompts) | While driving, with a persistent notification on Android | Asking "Did you park?" and releasing your spot when you drive away. Raw positions stay on your phone; only parks and unparks are sent. | Consent (a), which you can withdraw at any time in Profile → Settings or in your phone's settings |
| A destination you ask to be alerted about, and a push notification token | When you tap Notify me | Sending "a spot freed near your destination" | Contract (b) |
| Reports ("Still free", "Taken", "Not a parking spot") and claims ("Go") | Those actions | Keeping the map accurate | Legitimate interest (f) |
| Reputation points, tokens and the head starts you use them for | Automatically, and when you start a head start | Rewarding useful contributions | Contract (b) |
| A nickname, and your points this month and in total (only if you join the Leaderboard) | When you join | Showing the drivers who contribute most | Consent (a), which you can withdraw at any time on the Leaderboard |
| Crash reports (device model, OS, app version, error trace; coordinates truncated to ~1 km; no account id) | When the app crashes | Fixing bugs | Legitimate interest (f) |
What other drivers see: only the spot (its position, size and state). Never who parked there, your car, your account or your history. If you join the Leaderboard, they also see your nickname, your rank and your points.
We do not sell data, show ads or track you across other apps or websites.
3. How long we keep it
- Closed parking sessions: 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Claims: 7 days. Reports: 30 days.
- Destination alerts expire after at most 2 hours; push tokens are kept until you sign out or delete your account.
- Account, cars, reputation and tokens: until you delete your account.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days at Sentry.
- Parking spots learned from parks contain no personal data. Spots used only once are removed after 180 days.
4. Who processes data for us
- Supabase (database and sign-in), EU region (Frankfurt), under a Data Processing Agreement.
- Sentry (crash reports), EU region (Germany).
- Brevo (sends the sign-in code emails), EU.
- Cloudflare serves this website and the street files the app downloads, and forwards emails sent to support@parkradar.gr. It receives your IP address and which areas of about 1 km the app downloads streets for, including the area where you park.
- OpenFreeMap (map tiles) receives your IP address and the map area you view, to draw the map. Stadia Maps does the same only if we have to switch to it as a backup map.
- Google Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service (delivering alerts).
- Apple / Google if you choose to sign in with them.
- Hetzner (Germany) hosts our routing server, which receives the start and end of the way to a spot to draw it, and keeps no record of it.
- Google Maps, only if the way to a spot opens there (a spot over 2 km away, or when our routing server does not answer): Google then receives the destination under its own terms.
Supabase, Sentry, Brevo and Hetzner keep the data in the EU. Google, Apple, Cloudflare and Stadia Maps are companies based outside the EEA or may process data outside it. Such transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it, and otherwise on the Standard Contractual Clauses in their data processing terms.
5. Your rights
You can access, correct, export or erase your data, object to processing based on legitimate interest, and withdraw consent at any time. Profile → Settings → Delete account permanently erases your account, cars, sessions, claims, reports, reputation, tokens, alerts and push tokens at once. For anything else, email support@parkradar.gr. You may also complain to the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr).
6. Children
ParkRadar is intended for licensed drivers and is not directed at anyone under 18.
7. Map data credits
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL). Map tiles © OpenMapTiles. Parking positions on some streets are derived from Mapillary street imagery (CC BY-SA 4.0).
8. Changes
We will notify you in the app before material changes take effect.
